About Chesslang

What Chesslang is good at

Chesslang describes itself as "Software for Chess Coaches and Academies", "offering live classroom, playing, and training features" and "white-labeled mobile apps for Android and iOS" (its site as read on 16 October 2026).

Chesslang’s classroom FAQ says coaches can teach individual or group classes and "stay connected with your students through the built-in audio-video call". Its plan lists include sharing games and assignments, database access, blindfold chess, engine analysis, practice positions and a free website, an "Inbuilt Activity Based Curriculum" on the Platinum and Diamond plans, and a customized login page on Diamond. The pricing set up on its homepage lists Silver at $60 a month or $600 a year for 15 students, Gold at $90 or $900 for 30, Platinum at $120 or $1,200 for 60, Diamond at $170 or $1,700 for 100, and Enterprise for 100+ students by contact. Its /pricing/ page showed "Service Temporarily Unavailable" on 16 October 2026. Chesslang also sells Chesslang One, a $29-a-month membership, which it says bundles Chesslang Starter with 5 student accounts and the ChessMethod.io curriculum, with seven rating-band levels and proctored certification.

ChessCore, differently

What ChessCore does differently

ChessCore keeps student practice in the same record as attendance, fees and games. Coaches assign homework to one student or a whole batch with a due date, pick rated puzzles by rating and theme from a catalog of 6,095,563 puzzles from the open Lichess puzzle database, and review Stockfish analysis of the Lichess and Chess.com games a coach selects. On the business side it covers batches, attendance, make-up credits, coach substitutions, payroll preparation, several centres, Razorpay UPI AutoPay, Stripe and a family ledger. AI-written report text waits for a coach to review it, while class reminders, fee reminders and enabled monthly reports go out on their own schedule.

White-label too. Families see your academy, not ChessCore: the student and parent portal carries your logo, your colours and your own home page on every plan, and runs on your own domain from the Grow plan up. Families also get an academy-branded app, which installs from the browser to a phone home screen.

Worked through

Can I keep my PGN curriculum?

Yes for the files you wrote yourself, with one limit. Lesson PGNs you own stay yours and can be uploaded to ChessCore. What does not travel is the structure around them: the game importer keeps each game's main line, so a lesson that branches into variations loses those branches, and lesson order and unit grouping are not rebuilt from the file.

What Chesslang supplies is a separate question. Its pricing lists an inbuilt Activity Based Curriculum on the Platinum and Diamond plans, and its Chesslang One membership at $29 a month bundles Chesslang Starter with 5 student accounts and ChessMethod.io. That bundle is its own entitlement and does not tell you what Platinum or Diamond include. Whether you can keep supplied material after you cancel is a licence question for Chesslang; the pages read on 16 October 2026 did not answer it.

  1. List what is yours. Mark every lesson PGN, puzzle set and worksheet as written by you or supplied by Chesslang.
  2. Keep the originals. Download every file you own before you change anything, and ask Chesslang how to export lessons built inside its editor.
  3. Test one lesson with variations. Preview and upload it as a PGN for a test student, up to 200 games per file. Invalid games are reported and duplicates are skipped. Open the game and see which lines survived.
  4. Rebuild order and units by hand. Set up curriculum units and lesson order in ChessCore. The AI syllabus composer can draft a plan for a number of weeks; you edit titles, descriptions, weeks and prerequisites, and nothing is saved until you confirm the import. The draft is a starting point, not a published curriculum.
  5. Recreate the assignment rhythm. Assign to one student or a whole batch with a due date. Work that is not submitted is marked overdue once the date passes.

Edge case, with illustrative numbers: a coach has 40 lesson PGNs and 6 of them carry side variations. All 40 games import, and the 6 arrive as single lines. Decide before the move whether each variation becomes its own game in the file, or a note on the lesson, and check it on one lesson first.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is ChessCore a Chesslang alternative?
Yes. Both give students a live classroom and engine analysis. ChessCore adds a 6,095,563-puzzle catalog, spaced-repetition practice and the full academy back office with UPI AutoPay. Chesslang lists an Activity Based Curriculum on its larger plans and branded Android and iOS apps.
Does ChessCore offer white-label apps?
Yes. ChessCore gives families an academy-branded app that also installs from the browser to a phone home screen, and carries your academy logo and branded school pages on every plan, and your own domain from the Grow plan. Chesslang advertises white-labeled Android and iOS apps.
Which fits an Indian academy?
ChessCore is built for India with UPI AutoPay through Razorpay (from the Grow plan), WhatsApp and a family ledger. India billing details were not published on the Chesslang pages we read on 16 October 2026, and its plans are priced in US dollars.
Can I keep my PGN-based curriculum if I switch from Chesslang?
Keep your own PGN files as the master copy of your lessons, and ask Chesslang in writing how to download anything you built in its editor before you cancel. ChessCore imports up to 200 games per PGN file for a student a staff member can access. It keeps each game’s main line, reports invalid games and skips duplicates. It does not rebuild lesson order or branching variations as a course, so set up units and order yourself and test one lesson first. The steps are in the section above.
