A Wise.live alternative for chess academies

ChessCore is a Wise.live alternative for academies that teach only chess and want the chess work built in: game review with Stockfish, puzzles, play against AI and a live board. Wise.live is general tutoring software with branded store apps. Many academies keep it for non-chess subjects, so this page also covers running both.

Wise.live details below are sourced from their own site, read on 16 October 2026. We do not invent competitor facts; re-check before deciding.

About Wise.live

What Wise.live is good at

Wise.live calls itself "All-in-one tutor management software to manage scheduling, invoicing, learners, tutors, and more", trusted by 1000+ online and in-person tutoring businesses, with chess academies as one of its solution pages alongside test prep, music, language and corporate training (wise.live, read on 16 October 2026).

Its strength is breadth and polish for tutoring in general: group and one-to-one scheduling with self-booking pages, invoicing with instalment and subscription payment plans, branded Android and iOS apps, AI-powered performance reports and automatic session recording. Its page for chess schools lists calendar and session booking, session credits, templates, quality control, and automated session reminders over WhatsApp and email through your own WhatsApp Business account. Its pricing page shows three models: Pay Per Session, Pay Per Seat for tutor and admin seats with unlimited students and sessions, and Enterprise by contact, with an optional Zoom toggle on the first two. The calculator we read on 16 October 2026 showed a unit figure of 0.69 with no currency and a monthly total of 0, so this page quotes no Wise.live amount. Get a written quote instead.

ChessCore, differently

How does a class move from booking to a parent update?

The table below follows one class through four handoffs. Wise.live’s side is what its own pages describe, read on 16 October 2026. ChessCore’s side is how the product works. ChessCore is chess-only on purpose: it imports games from Lichess and Chess.com, lets a coach select games for Stockfish to flag the mistakes worth coaching, and drafts chess progress reports alongside academy operations. Students train inside it too, with a catalog of 6,095,563 rated puzzles, a spaced-repetition practice queue, human-like AI opponents, a live classroom board and Swiss tournaments. For Indian academies it takes UPI AutoPay through Razorpay from the Grow plan, and sends WhatsApp updates once the academy connects its WhatsApp Business account. Wise.live’s own pages are the place to confirm any detail before you decide. For a neutral review of the product, read our Wise.live review for chess academies.

White-label too. Families see your academy, not ChessCore: the student and parent portal carries your logo, your colours and your own home page on every plan, and runs on your own domain from the Grow plan up. Families also get an academy-branded app, which installs from the browser to a phone home screen.

Where do the two products hand off?

Run one real class through both and write down who owns each step. Credits and cancellations are the usual points of friction: Wise.live counts session credits, while ChessCore applies policy-based make-up credits that the academy defines. Our guide on running a tutoring app alongside chess tools covers the same handoffs for any general class app.

Wise.live prices by conducted session or by tutor and admin seat, not by student, so a student count alone cannot price it. Fill in every line from a written quote before you compare totals. Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Wise.live made for chess?
Wise.live is general tutoring software. It has a page for chess schools, and that page lists scheduling, session credits, and WhatsApp and email reminders, but does not mention a chessboard, PGN or engine tools (read on 16 October 2026). ChessCore is built only for chess.
Which chess teaching workflows can I test in ChessCore?
Read a PGN, run Stockfish on a student’s games, flag coachable mistakes, draft a chess progress report a coach approves, serve students rated puzzles on a spaced-repetition schedule, let them play AI opponents and classmates, teach on a shared live board, and pair a Swiss tournament. Test these workflows with a sample lesson and a coach-selected game before deciding.
Does ChessCore have mobile apps?
ChessCore gives families an academy-branded app that also installs from the browser to a phone home screen, with a parent portal (an email invite, then their own login) and WhatsApp updates. Wise.live advertises branded Android and iOS apps.
How do I move my academy from Wise.live to ChessCore?
Put your student list in a spreadsheet; the template at /templates/chesscore-student-import-template.csv shows the columns. Import your student roster from a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file, mapping columns for student name, guardian name, email and phone, batch and date of birth. Every import is previewed first, with row-by-row errors, before anything is saved. Likely duplicates are flagged for you to decide on, and you can undo an import within 24 hours. ChessCore does not import invoices, fee plans or opening balances, so set those up in ChessCore yourself. Ask Wise.live how to download your learner list; we have not read an export page of theirs.
What must we check if we keep Wise.live for tutoring and use ChessCore for chess?
Give each job one home. Choose one product to issue invoices, so no family is charged twice, and one owner for parent messages, so reminders do not go out from both. Agree who reconciles the roster and class cancellations by hand, because there is no Wise.live connector and no shared login. Run one batch for a month before moving the rest.
