Parent update definition
A parent update is a message that tells one family about its own child's academy activity, such as a class reminder, a fee notice, an attendance note or a progress report. Its channel and whether a person reviews it first depend on the message type, so each update goes to that family only, not a batch group.

Parent update in practice
Parent update is the umbrella term for a message about one student's academy activity: a class reminder, a fee notice, an attendance note, a make-up confirmation or a progress report. In ChessCore three cases behave differently. WhatsApp reminders go out only when the academy has connected WhatsApp and the parent has opted in. Monthly progress reports, when the academy switches them on, are emailed automatically from attendance and rating records, with no AI text. A personal message drafted by the AI, such as a note to one parent about a missed class, waits for a person to review and send it. Class summaries are a separate case: an academy can let them publish once the coach notes behind them pass a completeness check. As advice, keep an individual fee or progress matter out of a batch group, because every family in the group can read it. Academy owners run into the term when setting up which messages go where and when training a second coach to take over a batch.
