Attendance register definition
An attendance register is the per-session record of which students were expected, whether each was present, late or absent, the reason for any absence, who marked it and when, and any correction. It can be kept on paper or in software, and a class nobody marked is recorded as unknown, not absent.

Attendance register comes up when an academy trains coaches on the daily marking routine, reconciles make-ups against a term's absences, or pulls every batch into a monthly review. Useful fields beyond the mark are the reason, the person who marked it, a correction note and the follow-up decision. Whether an absence earns a make-up credit depends on the academy's written policy, not on the status label. A missing mark is unknown rather than absent, and counting it as absent changes the monthly figure. The register sits next to two other operational words: batch, since every mark inherits its schedule context, and coach load, since a coach running several batches needs to see which room needs attention first.
