Chess software reviews and alternatives

Coaches and parents evaluate chess software one product at a time, usually with a specific job in mind: explaining moves, building an opening repertoire, managing a database, or choosing how a child plays online. A review is only useful when it judges the product against that job and cites what the vendor itself publishes.
